The Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers take the field at Comerica Park on Tuesday.
The Seattle Mariners have been fading and that’s not a good thing with the Rangers racking up wins. The fade continued in an 8-7, 12 inning loss at Detroit for their 9th loss in eleven contests. Mariners starter Nathan Karns was charged with five runs over five frame with Nick Vincent giving up two before Vidal Nuno served up a 12th inning walk off homer. The M’s pounded out 19 hits and walked twice with Kyle Seager going solo while Adam Lind homered and drove in two. Seth Smith knocked in two more and Ketel Marte scored twice as every starter reached base. Left hander James Paxton will be on the hill to face the Tigers for the first time since 2014. Paxton comes off a 6-4 victory at Tampa Bay with three runs allowed on seven hits over six innings.

The Detroit Tigers are trying to regain their form of several years ago when they were the team to beat in the American League Central. The Tigers will be in trouble with too many losing streaks and came up with a big extra inning affair the ended a three game skid. Tigers starter Mike Pelfrey was hit hard with six runs plated on 12 hits through five innings before five relievers gave up just one run. Detroit racked up 14 hits and walked four times with Miguel Cabrera and Juston Upton Jr. each going deep and combining for five RBI’s and three runs while Cameron Maybin drove in two more. Justin Verlander toes the rubber against the visiting Mariners in Tuesday action. Verlander was a 10-4 winner at Kansas City last time out with all four runs scored on eight hits in seven frames.
