The Tampa Bay Rays clash with the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field on Wednesday night.
It seems that when the Tampa Bay Rays begin to heat up they cool down and can’t make any headway in the American League East. The Rays remained cool in a 6-0 defeat at Progressive Field on Tuesday where neither the arms or bats were able to come through. TB starter Blake Snell took the loss with three runs scored (two earned) on seven hits over 6.2 frames before Steven Geltz gave up three runs in the 8th. Tampa Bay was held to three hits and two walks with five players reaching base. Chris Archer toes the rubber against the Indians for the second time on the year. Despite Archer’s struggles this season he has looked good over his last three with a 4.12 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians are sitting atop the American League Central needing to avoid losing streaks. The Indians racked up win number five in a row Tuesday behind outstanding work on the mound and at the plate. Tribe starter Corey Kluber gave up three hits and two bases on balls while striking out nine through a complete game performance. The Indians totaled ten hits with Jose Uribe going solo with Juan Ramirez going deep, driving in two and scoring twice. The Indians turn to Trevor Bauer for his first start versus Tampa Bay since 2013. Bauer has been at his best the past three times out with a 1-0 record and 1.01 WHIP and 1.59 ERA.
The over is 14-3-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 19 on grass and is 18-6-2 in their last 26 road games while the Rays are 1-10 in Archer’s last 11 Wednesday starts. Cleveland are 9-0 in their last 9 home games and the over is 42-18-2 in their last 62 home games while the Indians are 27-13 in their last 40 Wednesday games. The Rays are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings and the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Cleveland. Right or wrong the hot home team is the way I’m looking….
