The Cincinnati Reds look to keep their bats hot after a big win against the Texas Rangers last night as the teams meet up again on Wednesday.
The Reds haven’t had a great season so far but it is tough to deny that they have some guys who can swing the bat as the trio of Adam Duvall, Joey Votto, and Jay Bruce is as formidable as they come and that was on full display last night. Cincy will be in tough on Wednesday though as they take on Cole Hamels who has been brilliant ever since coming over to the Rangers mid way through the year last year and as the ace of the team he can be relied on to carry the burden during the biggest games of the season and even in ones like this where the competition level isn’t great. The Reds will counter with Dan Straily though who has actually been pretty solid this season and has certainly been the Reds’ best option on the bump.

Texas has been red hot of late and have looked like a completely different team since the Rougned Odor-Jose Bautista incident and if they can continue to ride the wave they will be a very tough team to beat in October. Texas is 9-1 in their last 10 games and had their winning streak snapped by the Reds last night but they are in a good position to start a new winning streak in this one as they have the lineup to match up with anyone in baseball and a pitcher tonight in Hamels who continues to just get the job done.
The Reds are 17-39 in their last 56 road games, 28-57 in their last 85 overall, and 8-22 in their last 30 against a lefty while the Rangers are 6-0 in their last six interleague games against a righty, 52-22 in their last 74 home games, and 36-15 in their last 51 overall. Cincy got a win last night but they are in tough here against Hamels and I like the Rangers to win and win big.
