The Philadelphia Phillies travel to the west coast to open a series with the San Francisco Giants.

The Philadelphia Phillies have been struggling to get both their arms and bats on the same page and the losses have been piling up. The Phillies received both Thursday in a 7-3 victory at Target Field that snapped a nine game slide. Phils starter Jerad Eickhoff  was at the top of his game with a pair of runs plated (one earned) on five hits over six frames to pick up the victory. Philadelphia amassed 15 hits and six walks with Ryan Howard smacking a solo homer while Freddy Galvis homered and drove in five runs on a 2-3 effort. The Phillies are slated to send rookie Zach Eflin to the hill to face San Francisco for his third career start. Eflin comes off of a 5-2 loss to Arizona where he gave up two runs on four hits and two BB over 5.2 innings.

San Francisco Giants vs. Philadelphia Phillies - 6/24/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The San Francisco Giants have been threatening to pull away from the National League West with their ability to limit the bad times. The Giants have been red hot and stayed that way with a 5-3 win at Pittsburgh Thursday for their 10th win in eleven contests. SF starter Albert Suarez improved to 3-1 with all three runs (two earned) on four hits and a pair of BB through five innings  before four relievers held the Pirates scoreless. The Giants totaled nine hits and walked twice with Mac Williamson going 3-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Joe Panik smacked a bases loaded triple. San Francisco opens the series with Philadelphia with Jake Peavy on the hill. Peavy is shooting for back to back wins after a 5-1 victory at Tampa Bay with a run scored on four hits in six frames.

Philadelphia are 1-9 in their last 10 road games and are 4-23 in their last 27 games on grass while going  4-22 in their last 26 overall. San Francisco are 37-16 in their last 53 overall and  are 36-17 in their last 53 games on grass while going  12-3 in Peavy’s last 15 home starts. The Phillies are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings. The hot Giants at home seems like the way to go…
