On Saturday evening at Turner Field, the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves will be continuing their weekend series.
This will be game two of the set. In Friday’s game one, the Mets snagged an 8-6 victory despite getting out-hit by Atlanta 11-8.

For Saturday’s game, the Mets will be bringing out right-hander Jacob deGrom. Over his 12 starts and 3-4 record this year, deGrom has posted a 2.96 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP across 73 total innings of work. On Sunday in a loss to the Braves, deGrom managed a quality start with three earned on five hits over six innings.
The Mets hitters have certainly had their ups and downs this year. Asdrubal Cabrera has hit 70 times with 30 runs and 24 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes has a team-high 18 home runs with 68 hits, 39 runs and 44 RBI. Neil Walker has 14 homers with 30 RBI, 64 hits and 29 runs. Walker had three hits and three runs on Friday.
The Braves will be countering with right-hander Julio Teheran on Saturday. In his 15 starts and 3-7 record this year, Teheran has managed a solid 2.66 ERA with a 0.91 WHIP in 98 innings. In his last start against these same Mets, Teheran tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out seven.
It’s easy to find the stars on the Braves’ roster. Freddie Freeman has been the team’s big swinger on 12 homers, 27 RBI, 75 hits and 34 runs. Nick Markakis has a team-high 39 RBI with 68 hits and 28 runs. Adonis Garcia is hitting .258 with 48 hits, 18 RBI and 18 runs thus far. Garcia bagged a pair of RBI on Friday.
The Mets are 2-5 in their last seven game threes of a series, and 9-4 in deGrom’s last 13 starts in game three of a series. New York is also 0-4 in deGrom’s last four road starts, and 0-4 in deGrom’s last four starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 7-15 in their last 22 Saturday games, and 13-32 in their last 45 game threes of a series. Atlanta is also 0-8 in Teheran’s last eight home starts and 0-4 in Teheran’s last four Saturday starts.
The Braves have been on a roll lately, and with Teheran on the mound I think they’ll have a good opportunity for a victory here.
