The New York Mets are in a virtual tie for second in the National League East with Miami so every game is crucial. The Mets have been doing their part with wins in four of five after a 1-0, eleven inning win at Atlanta Saturday. NYM starter Jacob deGrom tossed eight scoreless innings for a no decision. New York managed eight hits with Kelly Johnson’s 11th inning providing the lone run of the game. The Mets are slated to send veteran Bartolo Colon to the bump Sunday to face the Braves for the second time this year. Colon has enjoyed a strong season with a 6-3 record and 3.00 ERA in 14 starts.

The Atlanta Braves have been playing their best baseball of the season over the past few weeks but most are wondering if it will last. The Braves have easily been playing their best baseball but have dropped three of four following Saturday night’s disappointing loss to visiting New York. Bravos starter Julio Teheran threw eight innings of shutout ball before Dario Alverez surrendered a solo homer in the 11th to absorb the loss. Atlanta totaled nine hits and a pair of bases on balls with Ender Inciarte, Nick Markakis and Tehern recording two hits apiece. The Braves hand the ball to Bud Norris who will see New York for the second time in 2016. Norris did not receive a decision in a 3-2 win at; Miami with both runs scored on seven hits in 5.1 frames.
