The Arizona Diamondbacks have been surging as they close in on the .500 mark. The surge stopped for a day in an 11-6 defeat at Colorado Saturday afternoon yet they have still won seven of nine. Diamondbacks starter Shelby Miller was charged with seven runs on eleven hits to fall to 2-7 before Josh Collmenter allowed four more. Zona totaled ten hits and nine walks with Michael Bourn going 2-5 with a homer and three RBI’s while Jean Segura drove in a run and scored twice. Left hander Patrick Corbin toes the rubber for the second time this season versus the rival Rockies. Corbin comes off of a 4-2 win at Toronto where he allowed both runs on nine hits and three BB over 6.1 innings.

The Colorado Rockies have been struggling the past few weeks and need a reversal of fortune. The Rockies had dropped six of eight before the bats saved them Saturday and overcame poor work out of the bullpen. Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa upped his record to 5-4 with a run allowed on six hits and five BB through six frames while Justin Miller and Chad Qualls combined to give up five runs. The Rockies pounded out 15 hits and walked four times with DJ LeMathieu, Tony Wolters and Charlie Blackmon going deep with nine RBI’s and five runs. Chad Bettis will be shooting for his third consecutive victory when he opposes Arizona on Sunday. In his two wins, Bettis has allowed four earned runs on 15 hits in 12 frames.
Arizona are 8-1 in their last 9 road games and are 7-1 in their last 8 overall while going 9-3 in their last 12 road games. Colorado are 9-3 in their last 12 Sunday games and are 2-6 in their last 8 overall while going 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass. The Diamondbacks are 9-1 in Corbin’s last 10 starts versus Colorado. I think Corbin and the Snakes get the nod here…
