The Oakland Athletics visit AT&T Park to face the San Francisco Giants in interleague action Monday.
The Oakland Athletics have a shot at reaching .500 but beyond that I can’t see much happening unless the Rangers collapse. The Athletics had been heading in the right direction with three consecutive victories before Sunday’s collapse that saw a 6-2 lead go by the wayside. A’s starter Sonny Gray gave up a pair of runs over six frames before three relievers combined to give up five runs. Oakland totaled nine hits and four walks with Coco Crisp clubbing a grand slam while Marcus Semien going solo.Rookie Daniel Mengden makes his third career start and first versus San Francisco. Mengden has looked good in each start thus far but is still 0-3 despite a solid 3.00 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants are trying to stretch their lead in the National League West in the weeks before the All Star break. The Giants stayed on a roll with Sunday’s 8-7 win versus visiting Philadelphia. SF starter Johnny Cueto suffered through a rare poor outing with six runs allowed through six innings before the pen restored some order. San Francisco racked up 16 hits with Connor Gillaspie, Brandon Crawford and Angel Pagan driving in two runs apiece with Pagan also scoring three times. Jeff Samardzija toes the rubber in Monday’s interleague bout versus visiting Oakland. Samardzija did not get a decision in a 7-6 win at Pittsburgh with all six runs plated on six hits including three homers in three frames.
The under is 7-2 in San Francisco’s last 9 interleague home games and the Giants are 36-15 in their last 51 overall while goIng 36-17 in their last 53 games on grass. The over is 5-2-2 in the last 9 meetings. Right or wrong the pitching around the league is giving up runs so I’ll go over the low total…
