LHP David Price will be taking the mound for the Red Sox on Wednesday. In his 16 starts and 8-4 record, Price has managed a 4.68 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP in 102 innings. In his last start against the Rangers, Price put up just 2.1 innings with 12 hits and six earned for a no-decision.
At the plate, there are plenty of Boston hitters to get excited about. Xander Bogaerts has bashed 109 hits with 59 runs, nine homers and 50 RBI. Mookie Betts is sitting on 98 hits with 67 runs, 16 homers and 54 RBI. David Ortiz has a team-high 18 homers with 63 RBI, 86 hits and 36 runs so far. Ortiz bagged two hits in Tuesday’s game.
Lefty Matt Moore will be making the start for the Rays on Wednesday. Over 15 starts and a 3-5 record, Moore has a 5.04 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP in 89.1 innings. In his last start against the Orioles, Moore managed 6.2 innings with five earned on seven hits in the loss.
The Rays hitters are no slouches either. Evan Longoria leads the pack with 82 hits, 43 runs, 18 homers and 43 RBI. Logan Morrison has hit 56 times with 29 runs, eight homers and 26 RBI. Steve Pearce has 56 hits with 23 runs, nine homers and 25 RBI in 2016. Pearce is currently fighting off an injury.
The Red Sox are 1-6 in their last seven game threes of a series, and 0-6 in their last six against a left-handed starter. Boston is also 5-2 in Price’s last seven road starts and 4-0 in Price’s last three starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 0-4 in their last four game threes of a series, and 1-6 in their last six against the American League East. Tampa Bay is also 2-10 in Moore’s last 12 starts and 0-5 in Moore’s last five starts versus a team with a winning record.
I feel like Price will bounce back here, so give me the Red Sox for the finale victory.
