The Toronto Blue Jays look to cool off the red hot Cleveland Indians in Saturday action.
This might sound like a broken record but I don’t remember the last time the Cleveland Indians lost. The Indians needed 19 innings to win number 14 in a row by a 2-1 count with the work on the mound saving the day. Tribe starter Josh Tomlin gave up a run on seven hits and struck out eight over six frames before eight relievers put up zeros with Trevor Bauer tossing the final five innings to get the win. Cleveland totaled 15 hits and walked three times with Jason Kipnis knocking in Carlos Santana whose 19th inning solo shot was the game winner. The Indians were supposed to send Trevor Bauer to the hill to face the Blue Jays on Saturday but he was used Friday so a starter is unknown.

The Toronto Blue Jays pitching had been carrying them early on but that has not been the case the past few weeks and the team needs more consistent efforts on the mound. The Blue Jays loss on Friday was a heartbreaker as they had opportunities to push across a few runs but didn’t although there is a reason Cleveland has won 14 straight. Jays starter Marcus Stroman was on top of his game with a run scored on five hits through 6.2 innings for a ND. Eight relievers held the Indians off the scoreboard before Darwin Barney surrendered a 19th inning homer. Toronto logged eleven hits with Justin Smoak smacking a solo bomb in the 6th. Toronto hands the ball to Marco Estrada for Saturday’s start versus the visiting Indians. Estrada has been the Blue Jays best starter with a 5-3 record in 15 starts with a 2.81 ERA.
Cleveland are 8-3 in their last 11 games on astroturf and are 38-18 in their last 56 overall while the under is 18-6-2 in Bauer’s last 26 road starts. Toronto are 4-10 in their last 14 Saturday games and the under is 17-4-1 in Estrada’s last 22 on astroturf while going 16-5 in Estrada’s last 21 home starts.
