The Los Angeles Angels just haven’t been able to get going in 2016 and they are probably in the role of spoiler from here on out. The Angels slide continued in a 10-5 loss at Fenway Park on Sunday that saddled the team with defeats in nine of eleven. LAA starter Matt Shoemaker fell to 3-9 with five runs scored on nine hits over 4.2 frames. Los Angeles totaled ten hits and walked four times with Yunel Escobar going 4-5 with two RBI’s and a run while Andrelton Simmons went 3-4 with a pair of runs.Los Angeles hands the ball to Tim Lincecum for his 4th start of the season on Monday. Lincecum has struggled the last two times out with nine runs allowed on 13 hits over 7.1 innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays season is on the brink of being over unless they can begin a long hot streak and get some help. Things didn’t improve as the Rays fell to visiting Detroit 5-1 on Sunday for their 9th loss in eleven contests. TB starter Chris Archer tossed 5.2 scoreless innings and struck out ten before three relievers combined to allow all five runs. Tampa was held to six hits and four bases on balls with Curt Casali doubling in Nick Franklin. Left hander Matt Moore will be on the hill to face the Angels for the first time since 2013. Moore comes off of a 4-0 victory versus the Red Sox with a three hit shutout over seven frames.
The Angels are 2-10 in their last 12 overall and the over is 9-3 in their last 12 on astroturf while the under is 6-2-1 in the Angels last 9 road games. Tampa Bay are 2-8 in their last 10 games on astroturf and are 2-8 in their last 10 home games while the Rays are 5-16 in their last 21 overall. Not much to choose from if you ask me…
