The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians continue their AL Central battle at Progressive Field on Tuesday after a late inning victory from the home side yesterday.
The Tigers dropped a pivotal show down on Monday night against the Cleveland Indians as the team’s jockey for position in the AL Central division as the Tribe went on a ridiculous 14 game winning streak and moved into top spot ahead of the Tigers and Royals. Detroit has a ton of pop at the plate even without JD Martinez as the likes of Victor Martinez, Miguel Cabrera and Nick Castellanos can still swing with the best of them which keeps the Tigers in any ball game and while their rotation hasn’t been as strong as some anticipated they are still in the hunt and could very well be a tough team to face off against come playoff time. Detroit will send Anibal Sanchez to the mound who is slated to face off against Carlos Carrasco in what should be a very exciting baseball game in Cleveland.

The Indians meanwhile got back in the win column after a tough final two games on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays and they will look to start another winning streak with the victims being their division rivals from Detroit which carries a full game swing with each game the teams face off against each other. Cleveland has been one of the most impressive teams in the league this season and the good news continues as Michael Brantley is expected to return from the DL after the all-star break which should give them an added boost heading into the unofficial second half of the season.
Detroit is 0-7 in Sanchez’ last seven starts, 0-5 in his last five road starts, and 7-2 in their last nine game two’s of a series while the Indians are 6-0 in their last six home games against a righty, 10-1 in their last 11 against a righty in any stadium, and 8-2 in Carrasco’s last 10. Detroit is in tough here as Carrasco has been among the league’s best starters and I think they Tribe ride him to another victory here.
