The Atlanta Braves shoot for a road win at the rival Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
The Atlanta Braves have played well in spots but have yet to find consistency. The Braves struggled on the mound and at the plate in an 8-2 defeat at Philadelphia for their 8th loss in eleven contests. Bravos starter Joel De La Cruz was charged with seven runs (four earned) on nine hits including a pair of homers over six frames to fall to 0-2. Atlanta managed six hits and three walks with Erick Aybar going deep while Nick Markakis drove in Freddie Freeman. Mike Foltymewicz makes his second start since coming off the disabled list. Foltynewicz did not get a decision the first time out in an 8-4 win versus Miami with three runs plated in three innings.

The Philadelphia Phillies have come out of a month long slumber playing well but the question is whether it lasts. It lasted another day and gave the Phillies victories in eight of eleven behind strong pitching and hitting. Phils starter Jerad Eickhoff upped his record to 6-9 with both runs plated on five hits and a trio of free passes through 7.2 innings. The Phillies pounded out 12 hits with Odrubel Herrera and Maikel Franco each going deep and drive in a pair of runs while Tommy Joseph and Cesar Hernandez each knocking in a run and scoring. The Phillies send rookie Zach Eflin to the hill to face the Braves for the first time in his career. In four starts Eflin has gone 0-2 with a 1.38 WHIP and 5.75 ERA covering 20.1 innings.
Atlanta are 14-37 in their last 51 Tuesday games and are 21-51 in their last 72 road games while going 1-8 in Foltynewicz’s last 9 road starts. Philadelphia are 2-8 in their last 10 home games and the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 Tuesday games while the over is 19-8 in their last 27 on grass. The under is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings and Atlanta are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. I’m thinking the Phils are hot and now is the time to back them….
