The New York Yankees look to build on their 20-hit, nine run onslaught of the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday as the teams meet up again on Wednesday at the Cell.
The Yankees laid a beating down on the White Sox yesterday as they score early and often against Carlos Rodon and Masahiro Tanaka had another strong outing as he earned the victory in what was one of the best performance of the year for an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Pinstripers. New York will look for an encore on Wednesday as they will send Michael Pineda to the mound who is coming off a nice effort in his last outing and is coming along nicely after a sluggish start to the year as he will face off against Miguel Gonzalez who is 1-4 with a 4.88 ERA this season.

Chicago has been as streaky as they come this season as they stormed out of the gate, fell quite a ways back in the middle, and have since come along again but they came to a halt last night in a big way as the Yanks were dominant from the first pitch to the last. Chicago will look to regroup at home here as they have to deal with the flame thrower in Pineda who is coming off a 12-strikeout performance and will be out for a repeat effort here against a tough hitting White Sox team that was silent last night. Chicago is 2.5 games better than the Yanks in the race for a wild card spot and need to make up some ground heading into the all-star break if they’re going to make a push afterwards and a win here against the Yankees would certainly help.
New York is 5-1 in Pineda’s last six starts, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 1-5 in his last six starts during game three of a series, while the White Sox are 6-1 in their last six overall, 4-1 in their last five home games, and 4-1 in their last five Wednesday starts. New York was dominant last night and while Pineda has been better of late he still hasn’t been great and I think the White Sox get one back tonight and take the series lead.
