The Pittsburgh Pirates look to stay red hot as they face off against the St. Louis Cardinals once again at Busch Stadium on Thursday night.
The Pirates have really turned things up over the last two weeks and they will look for another series sweep as they face off against the Cardinals on Thursday night and they will turn to one of their top prospects to do so as Tyler Glasnow will get the call against Adam Wainwright. Pittsburgh had been struggling for most of the season and have been on one of the biggest first half underachievers but a very impressive 10 game stretch has them right back in the hunt for a wild card spot and with their impressive lineup the Pirates should be a tough out the rest of the season. The Pirates are 9-1 in their last 10 games and have done very well after their series in Oakland as they look to sweep the road trip heading into the weekend with another inspired effort here against St. Louis and Wainwright.

St. Louis meanwhile has been woeful over the last two weeks and have really struggled at home this season which is very uncharacteristic of them and something you don’t expect from a perennial playoff contender. St. Louis needs to regroup during the all-star break and get refocused on the second half or else they run the risk of missing out on the playoffs altogether and while the Red Birds have fallen off a little bit since their World Series teams over the last couple of seasons they are still a dangerous group that can do some damage if they qualify. The Cards will look to tee off on Glasnow but he is a flame thrower and has exceptional numbers in Triple-A so he should be able to transfer to the big leagues.
Pittsburgh is 6-0 in their last six road games, 6-1 in their last seven against a team with a winning record, and 4-0 in their last four road games against a righty while the Cards are 24-10 in their last 34 Thursday games, 1-5 in their last six during game four of a series, and 4-1 in Waino’s last five home starts against a team with a winning record. The Cards are big favourites here but the Pirates are the better team and are red hot and with Glasnow making his MLB debut I think he shows up in a big way.
