The Atlanta Braves continue their road trip in Chicago as they travel a tad south from Wrigley to US Cellular as they take on the White Sox on Friday night.
The Braves look spoil the party for a surging White Sox team as they face off for the final series before the all-star break which marks the unofficial mid way point of the MLB season with these two sides having very different paths the rest of the way. Atlanta has had a very tough start to the year and while they have put up a couple of solid wins this season they don’t have a ton of weapons at their disposal and could very well be without their closer and best starting pitcher by the end of the year as both Arodys Vizcaino and Julio Teheran have been in trade rumors since the season began. Atlanta will send Matt WIsler to the mound who has the unenviable task of matching up with Chris Sale on the road in what is one of the toughest assignments in all of baseball.

The White Sox meanwhile are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are quietly working their way into the AL Central race with the Indians, Royals, and Tigers and they would love a series sweep of the lowly Braves heading into the all-star break. The Chi Sox get a great shot at starting off on the right foot here as they send Chris Sale to the mound who has been among the best pitchers in the majors over the last three seasons and he is certainly in the running for the AL CY Young award this season as he has been lights out and leads the league in wins. Chicago are big time favourites here and for good reason and while Wisler has been decent this season he has a tall task ahead of him if he wants to go pitch for pitch with Sale.
Atlanta is 16-35 in their last 51 interleague games, 21-45 in their last 75 road games, and 0-4 in their last four against the AL Central while the White Sox are 4-1 in their last five home games, 8-0 in Sale’s last eight interleague starts, and 15-3 in his last 18 starts overall. This is a tough spot for Atlanta as they went to extras last night and now have to play against Sale who is so dominant and should be dialed in tonight
