The Houston Astros hope to remain hot when they take the field with the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
The Oakland Athletics seem capable of beating any team, anywhere, but have fallen short too often. The Athletics fell 10--9 at Houston as a five run 9th went for naught with the Astros scoring three in the bottom of the 9th. A’s starter Daniel Mengden was charged with six runs over 4.2 frames before Ryan Madsen served up a three run homer in the 9th to get the loss. Oakland banged out 14 hits with Marcus Semien going solo while Yonder Alonso cracked a two run jack. Khris Davis drove in two with every starter but one scoring and or knocking in runs. Kendall Graveman draws Saturday’s start at Houston who he faces for the second time in 2016. Graveman was a 3-1 winner at Minnesota last time out with the lone run given up on three hits and four BB over 6.2 innings.

The Houston Astros have been playing well the last few weeks and might be the only team capable of pushing Texas in the American League West. The Astros have now won eight of eleven following a wild 9th inning rally versus Oakland on Friday. Collin McHugh gave up four runs through eight innings but didn’t get the win when Will Harris allowed four runs in the 9th. Houston pounded out 12 hits with Carlos Correa going deep with three RBI’s and three runs while Luis Valbuena cracked a three run walk off and knocked in four with a pair of runs. The Astros hand Saturday’s start versus the visiting Athletics to Lance McCullers. McCullers has been rock solid the past three times out with four runs allowed in 19.1 frames.
Oakland are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and are 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass while going 8-3 in their last 11 road games. Houston are 16-5 in their last 21 overall and are 16-5 in their last 21 home games while the under is 20-7 in their last 27 overall. Hopefully Houston has the Momentum after Friday…
