The Line: Milwaukee Brewers +157 / St. Louis Cardinals -167 --- Over/Under: 9 See the Latest Odds
The St. Louis Cardinals look to shake off a road loss against the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday as they face off once again at Miller Park on Saturday.
The Cardinals look to continue trending upward as they face off against the middle-of-the-pack Brew Crew on Saturday night and they will send one of their very best to the mound as Carlos Martinez gets the nod up against Chase Anderson. St. Louis hasn’t had the greatest first half of the regular season and don’t quite look like the same group that has been a playoff contender over the years but they are certainly still in the hunt for a playoff spot and I think they will be pretty active at the trade deadline. The Cards though need to rebound after a loss last night and take the final two games of this series if they’re going to head into the all-star break with any momentum and Saturday seems like a great spot with Martinez getting the ball. The Cards are 12-3 in their last 15 against the NL Central and they will be out for more here while the Brewers are 0-4 in Anderson’s last four starts.

Milwaukee got in the win column yesterday and will look to add to it tonight as they aim to make amends for a shaky first half also by turning things around in the second half. Milwaukee doesn’t have a ton to write home about and are expected to be heavy players at the trade deadline as guys like Jonathan Lucroy and Ryan Braun are involved in trade rumors, as is Jeremy Jeffress who has been very impressive this season as a part time turned full time closer and he could really help out a team’s bullpen for a playoff push. Anderson is in a tough spot here as the Cards are coming off a loss and will be sending arguably their best pitcher to the mound in this one looking for revenge.
The Cards are 8-1 in their last nine road games against a team with a winning home record, 12-3 in their last 15 against the NL Central, and 7-2 in Martinez’ last nine road starts while the Brewers are 0-4 in Anderson’s last four starts, 2-5 in their last seven overall, and 4-1 during their last five game two’s. This is a tough spot for the Brewers as they will have trouble hitting Martinez and the Cards should be able to get a multi run win in them here.
