The Minnesota Twins look to shake off a road loss against the Texas Rangers on Friday as the two sides meet up again in Arlington on Saturday.
The Twins had been playing their best baseball of the season heading into the Ball Park in Arlington last night and while they did hang five runs on the Rangers they gave up six and lost a tough one that really could have gone either way. The Twins will look to get back in the win column here but they will have to do so without Byron Buxton who was carted off after running into the wall and while his bat hasn’t been great for the Twins he is one of the better defensive centre fielders in baseball and filling that gap will be tough. The Twins continue to get production out of Eduardo Nunez and Brian Dozier and if the rest of the group can catch up, namely Miguel Sano, the Twins could be a nice push in the second half and build for what could be a strong season next year.

The Rangers meanwhile are all in right now as they are coming off a tough playoff loss in the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays last season and with the lineup they have and the pieces they are likely to acquire at the deadline they could be the team to beat in the American League. Texas will look to build on their win yesterday and start stringing some wins together as they are just 3-7 in their last 10 games and with the all-star break on the horizon and The Houston Astros starting to make a push the Rangers know that the end of this series is important as dropping games to a last place team is not what they can afford right now.
Minnesota is 5-1 in their last six against the AL West, 5-1 in their last six overall, and 4-1 in Ricky Nolasco’s last five starts against the AL West while the Rangers are 1-6 in their last six games, 1-4 in their last five against the AL Central, and 0-5 in their last five against a righty. Minny has been playing very well of late and while the pitching match up is a wash tonight, the lineups are not as Texas is much deeper and they should get their second win in as many nights on Saturday.
