The Chicago White Sox look to end the first half with a win versus the visiting Atlanta Braves.
The Atlanta Braves are going nowhere in 2016 but they can rise up and play like a first place team without notice. The Braves gave the White Sox all they could handle before falling 5-4 on Saturday. Bravos starter Julio Teheran was charged with all five runs on nine hits over six frames to get the loss. Atlanta mustered eight hits and three walks with Jeff Francoeur smacking a two run homer while Gordon Beckham and Freddie Freeman went solo. Mike Foltynewicz takes the bump Sunday for his first career meeting with the White Sox. Foltynewics comes off of a 5-1 loss at Philadelphia with all five runs scoring on eight hits including four homers over 5.2 innings.

The Chicago White Sox know they will need every win they can get going forward in order to challenge the Indians in the American League Central. The Chicago White Sox walked a fine line in Saturday afternoon’s win versus visiting Atlanta but found a way to win. The White Sox didn’t get a great effort from starter Jose Quintana who gave up all four runs on five hits including three long balls through six innings to up his record to 8-9. Chicago pounded out eleven hits with Todd Frazier going 2-4 with a homer and three RBI’s. while Jose Abreu and Melky Cabrera each drove in a run and scored. The White Sox have scheduled James Shields as Sunday’s starter against the visiting Braves. Shields has won back to back contests with three runs given up on 13 hits in 12.2 frames.
