For Sunday’s game, the Yankees will be bringing out Masahiro Tanaka. In his 17 games and 6-2 record this year, Tanaka has put up a 3.12 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP in 112.1 innings. In his last outing, Tanaka managed 7.2 innings of shutout ball with six hits against the White Sox for a win.
The Yankees lineup is full of veteran talent. Didi Gregorius has been great lately on 88 hits with 37 runs and 41 RBI. Carlos Beltran has hit 87 times with 45 runs, 19 homers and 55 RBI. Starlin Castro sits on 83 hits with 31 runs, 10 homers and 31 RBI.
Over on the Indians side, we’ll be seeing Carlos Carrasco in the starting role. In his 11 starts and 5-2 record this season, Carrasco has put up a 2.47 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP in 69.1 innings. In his last start against Detroit, Carrasco bagged a win with one run and three hits across six innings.
At the plate, the Indians have several notable swingers. Francisco Lindor leads the way on 101 hits with 59 runs, 10 homers and 44 RBI. Jason Kipnis has put up 92 hits with 50 runs, 14 homers and 49 RBI. Carlos Santana is sitting on a team-high 20 homers with 49 RBI, 81 RBI and 51 runs.
The Yankees are 40-16 in their last 56 game fours of a series, and 1-4 in their last five Sunday games. New York is also 4-1 in Tanaka’s last five road starts, and 5-2 in Tanaka’s last seven Sunday starts.
As for the Indians, they’re 4-1 in their last five Sunday games, and 4-1 in their last five game fours of a series. Cleveland is also 4-0 in Carrasco’s last four starts, and 5-0 in Carrasco’s last five home starts.
The pitching matchup here seems to dictate the under, but I’ll give the Indians a slight winning advantage as well.
