The Detroit Tigers take the field at the Rogers Centre to face the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
The Detroit Tigers have faded the past week and can’t afford to if they expect to chase down Cleveland in the American League Central. The Tigers took a step forward Saturday with a 3-2 victory at Toronto. Detroit starter Matt Boyd allowed a run on four hits and a pair of BB with four relievers tossing an inning each. The Tigers totaled seven hits and two base on balls with Victor Martinez smacking his 17th homer while Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Andrew Romine also drove in runs.A struggling Anibal Sanchez looks for a win Sunday at the Rogers Centre. Sanchez comes off of a 12-1 loss at Cleveland with seven runs scored on five hits and four BB over 4.1 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays have been hot and would like nothing more then to head in to the break with a ton of momentum. The Blue Jays cooled off for a day Saturday and in the process saw their seven game winning streak end. Jays starter Aaron Sanchez gave up a pair of runs on five hits through five innings before Jason Grilli served up a solo homer in the 8th to absorb the loss. Toronto was held to six hits and two walks with Devon Travis going solo while Esquiel Carrera drove in Junior Lake with a triple. Veteran RA Dickey draws his second start of the season against the dangerous Tigers offense. Dickey defeated Kansas City 8-3 last time out with a pair of runs plated on five hits and three BB in seven frames.
Detroit are 1-10 in Sanchez’s last 11 starts. Toronto are 17-8 in their last 25 Sun\day games and are 1-9 in Dickey’s last 10 home starts while the Blue Jays are 1-8 in Dickey’s last 9 starts on astroturf. The Tigers are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings. I am no Dickey fan but I think he is the best option…
