The New York Yankees begin the second half of the season with the Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox are busy keeping the pressure on the Orioles in the American League East and the Birds are taking notice. The Red Sox have won six of seven after downing Tampa Bay 4-0 behind outstanding work on the mound. Boston starter David Price improved to 9-6 with eight scoreless frames while recording ten strikeouts. Boston mustered eight hits and a base on balls with David Ortiz slamming a two run jack while Mookie Betts drove in a run and scored. The Red Sox kick off the second half of the season with Steven Wright on the mound. Wright has struggled the past two times out with nine runs plated on 17 hits and four BB over eleven innings.

If the New York Yankees are going too make a move in the American League East, now is the time. The Yankees have won three of four after outscoring Cleveland 11-7 with their defense nearly losing it. Yanks starter Manahiro Tanaka gave up seven runs (three earned) on ten hits through 4.2 innings before Nathan Eovaldi tossed a one hitter over 4.1 frames. The NYY pounded out 13 hits and walked three times with Jacoby Ellsbury going deep and driving in three and scoring twice while Brett Gardner knocked in two with three others scoring two times each. Michael Pineda toes the rubber against the division rival Red Sox on Friday night. Pineda struggled last time out in a 5-0 defeat at the White Sox with all five runs given up on five hits and three BB in six frames.
The over is 9-3-1 in Boston’s last 13 road games and the under is 5-1-2 in Wright’s last 8 road start while the Red Sox are 7-2 in Wright’s last 9 starts. The over is 15-5-2 in the Yankees last 22 overall and is 15-5-2 in their last 22 on grass while New York are 6-2 in Pineda’s last 8 starts on grass. Boston seems toBe be a bit hotter so I’ll back them…
