The Pittsburgh Pirates conclude their series in the Nation’s Capitol versus the Washington Nationals.
The Pittsburgh Pirates know the Wild Card is what they are competing for but they can ill afford losing streaks of any length. Unfortunately the Pirates have dropped three in a row following a 6-0 defeat at Washington Saturday where nothing went well. Buccos starter Gerrit Cole was charged with five runs (four earned) to absorb the loss. Pittsburgh was held to six hits and a base on balls with Andrew McCutchen going 2-4. Rookie Chad Kuhl makes his 4th career start when he takes the mound at Washington. Kuhl comes off a 12-6 win versus the Cubs with four runs given up on seven hits over 2.1 innings.

The Nationals have scheduled to start Max Scherzer against visiting Pittsburgh on Sunday. Scherzer defeated the Mets 6-1 last time out with an unearned run allowed over seven frames.
