Coming up on Tuesday at Nationals Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals will be kicking off their mid-week MLB series.
The Dodgers are coming off a weekend set against the Diamondbacks. Los Angeles won Friday’s game, but dropped the final pair by just two combined runs.

As for the Nationals, they just finished up against the Pirates. Washington won the first two games by a combined 10 runs, then dropped Sunday’s finale 2-1.
Pitching for the Dodgers in Tuesday’s game will be left-hander Scott Kazmir. In his 18 starts and 7-3 record this year, Kazmir has posted a 4.52 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP in 97.2 innings overall. In his last start against the Padres, Kazmir put up just three innings with six hits and three earned for a no-decision.
At the plate, the L.A. hitters are pretty noteworthy in name at least. Corey Seager sits atop the heap on his 111 hits with 63 runs, 27 doubles, 17 homers and 43 RBI. Adrian Gonzalez has hit 93 times with 34 runs, 17 doubles and 44 RBI. Chase Utley is up there as well with his 77 hits, 45 runs and 27 RBI.
As for the Nationals, we’ll be seeing RHP Reynaldo Lopez on the mound Tuesday. Lopez is the Nats’ No. 5 prospect, and will be making his MLB debut here. Over 16 starts in the minors this season, Lopez has 109 strikeouts with a 3.19 ERA in 87.1 innings.
Washington has a pretty good setup with their bats. Daniel Murphy has managed a whopping 118 hits with 54 runs, 18 homers and 67 RBI so far. Wilson Ramos has put up 92 hits with 40 runs, 48 RBI and 13 home runs. Anthony Rendon is sitting on 84 hits with 55 runs and 35 RBI so far.
The Dodgers are 8-0 in their last eight against the National League East, and 9-1 in their last 10 Tuesday games. L.A. is also 4-1 in their last five game ones of a series, and 4-0 in Kazmir’s last four starts.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are 4-0 in their last four against a left-handed starter, and 5-1 in their last six overall. Washington is also 5-1 in their last six games on grass, and 4-1 in their last five following a loss.
Kazmir has been a little sketchy lately but I think he can hold things down here. Give me the Dodgers in this one.
