The Tampa Bay Rays look to stay hot as they continue their surge at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies.
The Rays offense busted out in a big way in the early stages of their show down with the Rockies last night as they were up 7-0 after the top half of the fourth and they will look to put one in the win column on Wednesday night as they send Chris Archer to the mound to face off against Jorge de la Rosa. Tampa Bay sits in last place in the American League East and are too far gone at this point to consider a push at the playoffs so they will likely become sellers at the deadline as guys like Jake Odorizzi continue to pop up in trade rumors and he may may only be the tip of the iceberg. For now though, the Rays will look to keep moveing forward and build some second half momentum as they continue to play in the hitter friendly confines of Coors Field and with de la Rosa going for the Rockies here the Rays face another winnable baseball game.

The Rockies continue to be a tough team to figure out as they have a very weak rotation and obviously a tough ball park to win games in as teams come into Coors with a huge grin on their faces and even when they send out their best arm they still manage to get shelled. Tyler Chatwood has been solid for the Rockies this season but he was blown up by the Rays last night and while they have so much pop at the plate with guys like Nolan Arenado, Carlos Gonzalez, Trevor Story, and Charlie Blackmon they can’t seem to find ways to win consistently.
The Rays are 13-5 in their last 18 road games against a team with a losing record, 7-19 in their last 26 road games overall, and 5-1 in Archer’s last six interleague starts while the Rockies are 0-5 in De La Rosa’s last five Wednesday starts, 5-2 in their last seven interleague games, and 2-6 in their last eight on Wednesday. Tampa is rolling right now and while Archer has been blown up at times this season he matches up well here as the Rays get another win
