The Line: Kansas City Royals +123 / Cleveland Indians -133 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest Odds
The Cleveland Indians got back in the win column with a solid team effort last night and they will look for an encore at Kauffman against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
The Indians rebounded after a series opening loss to the Royals on Monday with a big win last night behind another strong performance from Danny Salazar and now they will look to gain the upper hand on their division rivals in this series with a win on Wednesday night. The Tribe will turn to Carlos Carrasco in this one as he looks to improve to 6-3 on the year and bring down his already miniscule 2.49 ERA as he will go up against Ian Kennedy who has a pretty respectable 3.86 ERA but can’t find a way to win ball games as he is a modest 6-7 on the year. Cleveland has been one of the best teams in the American League all season long and are destined to make a serious push into the playoffs and they are not a team that anyone wants to play with the three headed monster they have at the front of their rotation.

The Royals meanwhile are going to have to turn things up a notch in the second half of the season as they aren’t where many expected them to be this season and heading into tonight’s game they are seven games back of the Indians in AL Central. KC is coming off a World Series championship but as is the case with most teams at the to of the line they are without some of those catalysts this season and they have really missed the presence of a guy like Johnny Cueto on the mound, despite his rocky tenure with the Royals. KC will need to get the bats going early here as Carrasco is one of the better pitchers in the AL and gives Cleveland a big edge on the bump.
Cleveland is 9-2 in Carrasco’s last 11 games on a Wednesday, 20-8 in their last 28 overall, and 5-1 in Carrasco’s last six starts while the Royals are 4-1 in their last five following a loss, 4-0 in Kennedy’s last four home starts, and 4-9 in their last 13 overall. This is Cleveland’s game to lose as they have the better lineup and pitcher and should get the win with all things considered.
