The Los Angeles Dodgers shoot for a road win versus the Washington Nationals Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to chase down San Francisco in the National League West so losing streaks of any length hurt. The Dodgers had lost consecutive games before the offense came to life in an 8-4 win at Washington Tuesday. LAD starter Scott Kazmir allowed a run over seven innings before Chris Hatcher was charged with three runs without recording an out. Los Angeles pounded out 13 hits with Yasmani Grandal going deep while Chase Utley went 3-5 with a homer and three RBI’s. Joc Pederson knocked in two and Howie Kendrick and Chris Taylor each scored twice. Hyun-Jin Ryu makes his second start of the year after missing 2015 with a shoulder injury. Ryu fell to San Diego 6-0 in his lone start with all six runs plated on eight hits over 4.2 innings.

The Washington Nationals are trying to pull away from the rest of the National League East right now. After winning five in a row the streaky Nationals have dropped consecutive contests which cost them a game in the standings with second place Miami winning. Nats starter Reynaldo Lopez was hammered for six runs on ten hits through 4.2 innings although he did strikeout nine. Washington logged seven hits and a base on balls with Jose Lobaton going solo and scoring twice while Trea Turner tripled in two and scored. Left hander Gio Gonzalez toes the rubbers versus the visiting Dodgers for the first time since 2015. Gonzalez comes off of a 3-2 win at the Mets with both runs given up on solo homers in 5.2 frames.
The under is 20-6-2 in the Dodgers last 28 Wednesday games and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 road games while Los Angeles are 3-8 in their last 11 Wednesday games. Washington are 15-5 in their last 20 home games and are 80-37 in their last 117 Wednesday games while the over is 9-1 in Gonzalez’s last 10 Wednesday starts. With Ryu an unknown and Gonzalez just bad it’s probably best to look elsewhere….
