The Chicago White Sox look to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win against the Detroit Tigers Saturday.
The Detroit Tigers are second in the American League Central but they are likely looking at a Wild Card unless Cleveland suddenly goes off the deep end. The Tigers took a step in the right direction as they rallied past the White Sox 7-5 on Friday. Detroit starter Michel Fulmer had a rare off night with five runs plated (four earned) on six hits and two BB over five frames with four relievers tossing a shutout. The Tigers pounded out eleven hits and walked eight times with Miguel Cabrera going 4-4 with two RBI’s and a run while Ian Kinsler scored three runs. Matt Boyd has earned his third straight after two outstanding performances. Boyd comes off of back to back outings where he allowed just one run on seven hits and three BB over eleven innings.

The Chicago White Sox have been fading and are in a position to make the playoffs if they can consistently win going forward. Following Friday night’s defeat the White Sox have lost nine of eleven and I get the feeling that the postseason is just not a part of their future in 2016. CWS starter Jacob Turner was charged with four runs on five hits and four bases on balls before Carson Fulmer gave up three runs to absorb the loss. Chicago managed eight hits and walked three times with Justin Morneau clubbing a three run bomb while Jose Abreu went 3-3 with two RBI’s and a run.The Whites Sox are looking for consecutive quality starts from ace Chris Sale versus the visiting Tigers. Sale did not get a decision in a 4-3 defeat at Seattle with a one hit shutout in eight innings.
The under is 13-3 in Detroit’s last 16 overall and the Tigers are 1-8 in Boyd’s last 9 road starts while the over is 7-3-1 in Boyd’s last 11 starts on grass. The White Sox are 1-7 in their last 8 overall and are 1-7 in their last 8 games on grass while the under is 6-1-1 in their last 8 overall. The Tigers are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. If the White Sox don’t win with Sale, write them off…
