Over at Great American Ball Park on Sunday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cincinnati Reds will be completing their weekend set.
This will be game three of the series. On Friday, the Reds managed a 6-2 victory. In the Saturday match-up, the Reds got another win 6-1.
USA TODAY Sports
For Sunday’s game, the Diamondbacks will be whipping out Zack Godley. In his seven games this year (three starts), Godley has put up a 5.31 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP in 20.1 innings. In a loss against Toronto his last time out, Godley logged five innings with six hits and four earned.
The Diamondbacks lineup features a few diamonds up top. Jean Segura has hit 120 times to lead the team, and also has 58 runs with 38 RBI. Paul Goldschmidt is up there as well with 100 hits 56 runs, 16 homers and 62 RBI. Jake Lamb has hit 91 times with 52 runs, 21 homers and 65 RBI to his credit. Lamb and Goldschmidt combined to go 0-for-6 on Saturday, though.
Pitching for the Reds on Sunday will be lefty hurler Brandon Finnegan. Over 19 starts and a 5-7 record this year, Finnegan has put up a 4.66 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP in 106.1 innings. At home against Atlanta his last time out, Finnegan put up a win with seven hits and two earned in five innings.
Hitting for the Reds this year, we’ve got some real talent in spots. Jay Bruce heads the charge on 92 hits with 52 runs, 20 homers and 69 RBI. Bruce slapped a homer on Saturday. Zack Cozart has put up 90 hits with 53 runs, 15 homers and 41 RBI. Brandon Phillips has hit 89 times with 40 runs, six homers and 36 RBI so far.
The Diamondbacks are 1-5 in their last six game threes of a series, and 4-0 in Godley’s last four starts versus a team with a losing record. Arizona is also 4-1 in Godley’s last five starts on grass, and 4-1 in Godley’s last five starts overall.
As for the Reds, they’re 4-1 in their last five game threes of a series, and 15-38 in their last 53 Sunday games. Cincinnati is also 4-12 in Finnegan’s last 16 starts, and 0-7 in Finnegan’s last seven starts during game three of a series.
There’s not a lot to get excited about in this game honestly, but I’ll go with the home-town Reds for the finale win.
