At Marlins Park on Sunday, the New York Mets and the Miami Marlins will be finishing up their weekend series.

The Mets will be rolling out lefty Steven Matz for the start on Sunday. In his 17 starts and 7-6 record this year, Matz holds a 3.56 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP in 101 innings total. In Chicago during his last start, Matz took the loss with five innings, eight hits and four earned.
Helping out at the plate, we’ve got a nice assortment of New York hitters. Asdrubal Cabrera has hit 91 times with 39 runs, 13 homers and 31 RBI Yoenis Cespedes is sitting on 91 hits with 48 runs, 21 homers and 55 RBI. Curtis Grandson has hit 81 times with 46 runs, 16 homers and 29 RBI so far.
Over on the Marlins side, we’ll be seeing RHP Jose Urena once again. In his 17 games (one start) on the year, Urena has a 6.23 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP in 26 total innings. In Urena’s lone start this year, he gave up just one run on four hits in 5.2 innings against the Phillies.
The Marlins hitters are quite the dynamic crew. Martin Prado has hit 115 times with 41 runs and 34 RBI. Christian Yelich is right behind on 111 hits with 50 runs, 10 homers and 54 RBI. Marcel Ozuna has hit 106 times with 55 runs, 17 homers and 52 RBI.
The Mets are 2-6 in their last eight Sunday games, and 5-1 in Matz’s last six starts during game three of a series. New York is also 8-3 in Matz’s last 11 road starts, and 2-7 in Matz’s last nine starts.
As for the Marlins, they’re 5-0 in their last five Sunday games, and 10-2 in their last 12 home games versus a left-handed starter. Miami is also 1-4 in Urena’s last five home starts, and 1-5 in Urena’s last six starts overall.
I like the over here, as I’m not terribly thrilled with either pitcher. I’ll take the Marlins for a small win, though.
