The battle for the Windy City begins Monday when the Chicago Cubs visit the Chicago White Sox.
The Chicago Cubs are still the top team in the National League Central but they can’t take their foot off the gas. The Cubs have won three of four after downing the Brewers behind a five run 7th. Cubbies starter Jon Lester gave up four runs on four hits and five BB over four frames before five relievers held off Milwaukee. The Cubs pounded out eleven hits and walked six times with Anthony Rizzo and Ben Zobrist combining for five RBI’s while Kris Bryant scored twice. The Cubs open the series with ace Jake Arrieta who faced the White Sox twice in 2015. Arrieta ended a string of poor performances with a 2-1 loss versus the Mets with the lone run allowed on five hits over seven innings.

The Chicago White Sox are at the point in the season where they begin putting together wins or they give some younger players a look. After losing eight of ten the White Sox nearly squandered a 4-1, 9th inning lead to win 5-4. CWS starter Jose Quintana tossed 6.2 scoreless innings but received a ND when David Robertson served up three solo homers in the 9th to blow the save only to get the win when the CWS scored in the bottom of the 9th to get the win which is simply a travesty. The White Sox amassed 12 hits and walked three times with Adam Eaton going 2-3 with three RBI’s. Miguel Gonzalez toes the rubber versus the Cubs for the first time since 2014 when he was with the Orioles. On the season, Gonzalez has gone 2-5 in 14 starts with a 1.33 WHIP and 4.41 ERA.
The under is 8-0 in the Cubs last 8 on grass and is 8-0 in their last 8 overall while he Cubs are 2-7 in their last 9 road games. The White Sox are 1-8 in their last 9 overall and are 1-8 in their last 9 games on grass while the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 overall. I’m taking the Cubs but I’m on the fence…
