On Friday from Progressive Field, the MLB is bringing us a great matchup between the Oakland Athletics and the Cleveland Indians.
The A’s are fresh off a three-game set against the Rangers this week. Oakland dropped game one, but came back to win the final two and has now won five of their last six outings.

As for the Indians, they just finished up against the Nationals. Cleveland and Washington split those two games.
Taking the hill for the A’s on Friday will be RHP Kendall Graveman. In his 19 starts and 7-6 record for Oakland this year, Graveman holds a 4.15 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP in 110.2 innings. IN a win against the Rays his last time out, Graveman went the distance on nine innings with nine hits and three earned.
Oakland has some notable players at the bat. Khris Davis has put up 90 hits with 48 runs, 25 homers and 67 RBI to lead the team in power. As for Jed Lowrie, he’s got 88 hits with 29 runs and 26 RBI. Danny Valencia has logged 87 hits with 45 runs, 13 homers and 37 RBI for his part so far.
Over on the Indians’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Trevor Bauer in the starting role on Friday. In his 22 appearances (15 starts) and 7-4 record this year, Bauer owns a 3.65 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP in 111 innings. In a loss to the Orioles his last time out, Bauer lasted just four innings with five hits and five earned.
Hitting for Clevleand, we’ve got a few key names out there. Francisco Lindor has hit 117 times with 68 runs, 12 homers and 50 RBI. Jason Kipnis has posted 109 hits with 57 runs, 16 homers and 52 RBI. Jose Ramirez holds 94 hits so far with 48 runs and 41 RBI to his credit.
The Athletics are 5-1 in their last six overall, and 9-3 in their last 12 game ones of a series. Oakland is also 5-0 in Graveman’s last five road starts, and 8-0 in Graveman’s last eight starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 1-4 in their last five overall, and 3-7 in Bauer’s last 10 Friday starts. Cleveland is also 1-4 in their last five games on grass, and 15-5 in their last 20 home games.
There’s not a lot to like about the Indians here, so I’ll stick with the A’s for the victory.
