The Seattle Mariners and the Chicago Cubs battle in an interleague tilt at Wrigley Field.
The Seattle Mariners have managed to stay in the American League West race thanks to the Rangers cooling off but a long hot streak would come in handy. The Mariners will have to wait another day to begin a hot streak after a 12-1 defeat at Wrigley Field where nothing went favorably. M’s starter Hisashi Iwakuma was charged with five runs on eight hits over three frames with Nathan Karns allowing five more in two innings. Seattle totaled eight hits and walked three times with Shawn O’Malley driving in Leonys Martin. Lefty Wade Miley draws the game two start at Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon. Miley comes off of a 2-0 defeat at Toronto with both runs given up on four hits and two BB over six innings.

The Chicago Cubs seemed to have survived a slowdown and need to take charge going forward. The Cubs were in charge Friday afternoon with strong performances on both the mound and at the plate. Cubbies starter bounced back from a few poor efforts with six scoreless innings to pick up the win. Chicago amassed 14 hits and six walks with David Ross going solo while Jason Heyward cracked a three run bomb. Anthony Rizzo knocked in three and Chris Coghlan drove in two with every starter but one reaching base. The Cubs are hoping Jake Arrieta returns to form when he opposes the visiting Mariners. In four of his last five starts, Arrieta has allowed at least four runs and has one win.
Seattle are 5-13 in their last 18 road games and are 10-4 in their last 14 interleague games. The under is 10-1-2 in the Cubs last 13 on grass and is 10-1-2 in their last 13 overall while going 8-1-2 in Chicago’s last 11 interleague games. I lean Cubs but Arrieta looks like the guy the Orioles got rid of and I’m not really interested…
