The New York Yankees keep their postseason hopes alive with a win at Tampa Bay on Saturday.
The New York Yankees have been playing some of their best baseball which has them in a position to make a postseason run. The Yankees had won seven of ten heading in to Friday’s tilt versus the weak hitting Rays but never got going in a 5-1 defeat. Yanks starter Ivan Nova gave up all five runs on six hits including a pair of long balls over 4.1 frames. The Bronx Bombers produced ten hits and a free pass with Mark Texiera driving in Jacoby Ellsbury. Nathan Eovaldi toes the rubber Saturday at Tropicana Field looking for his third win in a row. Eovaldi defeated San Francisco 5-2 last time out with both runs scoring on seven hits over 6.2 innings.

Smyly did not get a decision in a 4-3 loss at Oakland with a run plated on six hits in six frames.
