The Texas Rangers look to build on their big home win last night against the defending champion Kansas City Royals as the teams meet up again on Saturday.
The Royals have had a tough stretch of late and run the risk of missing out on this year’s American League playoffs and their roller coaster season continued last night in a 5-3 loss to the AL West leading Rangers. The Royals have had to deal with a handful of injuries and an overhaul from last year’s World Series winning team and all of that has taken its toll on the Royals but that is not to say they won’t make any moves at the trade deadline or in the AL Central standings as they still have talent and can compete with the big dogs in the American League. Ian Kennedy will get the start for the Royals as he will face off against Martin Perez.

The Rangers meanwhile will look to stay atop the AL West through the weekend as they hold a four game edge on the Houston Astros and while they haven’t played their best baseball over the last month or so they are still the best the American League has to offer and are in a good spot to claim home field advantage. Texas is a team we can expect to make some moves at the trade deadline as they could afford another starting pitcher and some extra power in the lineup and with Joey Gallo involved in most of those trade discussions you can bet they are going all in this season.
The Royals are 0-6 in Kennedy’s last six road starts, 1-5 in their last six overall, and 7-19 in their last 26 road games, while the Rangers are 20-8 in their last 28 Saturday games, 7-15 in their last 22 overall, and 6-0 in Perez’ last six home starts. The Rangers have the best record in the AL and look like a tough out right now and they keep it rolling at home here against the Royals.
