The Tampa Bay Rays appear to be destined for the American League East cellar and the question is do they trade away some talent. The Rays are hoping to go on a little run following Saturday’s victory where both the arms and bats contributed. TB starter Drew Smyly upped his record to 3-11 with two runs scoring on four hits through six innings. Tampa Bay posted five hits and two bases on balls with Brad Miller, Tim Beckham and Curt Casili smacking long balls and combining for five RBI’s and four runs. Rookie Blake Snell draws his second start of the season against the Yankees on Sunday. Snell did not get a decision in a 3-2 loss at Oakland last time out with two runs scoring on seven hits in 6.2 frames.
The under is 13-3 in the Yankees last 16 overall and is 20-6 in their last 26 on astroturf while the over is 11-5-1 in their last 17 road games. The under is 16-4-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 22 overall and he Rays are 3-9 in their last 12 games on astroturf while going 3-9 in their last 12 home games. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Tampa Bay and is 15-6-2 in the last 23 meetings. I’m going to stick with the Rays but it’s dangerous expecting a bad team to win a few games…
