Coming our way in MLB action on Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds will be kicking off their series from Great American Ball Park.
The Cardinals are fresh off a four-game set against the Marlins. St. Louis won the first two games, but dropped the final two for an even series.

As for the Reds, they just finished against the Padres this weekend. Cincinnati won games one and three, but dropped Saturday’s matchup 2-1.
Pitching for the Cardinals on Tuesday will be RHP Adam Wainwright. In his 21 starts and 9-5 record this year, Wainwright has put up a 4.16 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP in 132 innings. Taking a no-decision his last time out against the Mets, Wainwright allowed 11 hits and four earned in 6.2 innings of work.
St. Louis has a few interesting names at the plate. Aldemys Diaz has hit 110 times with 64 runs, 14 homers and 57 RBI. Stephen Piscotty holds 107 hits with 59 runs, 14 homers and 59 RBI. Yadier Molina is still going strong on his 94 hits with 38 runs and 31 RBI.
Over on the Reds side, we’ll be seeing RHP Dan Straily Tuesday. In 22 appearances (19 starts) and a 6-6 record this year, Straily holds a 3.84 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP in 122 innings. Getting a win his last time up, Straily went 7.2 innings against the Giants with three hits and just one earned.
Cincinnati has a few gems on offense. Jay Bruce has hit 98 times with 60 runs, 25 homers and 80 RBI to lead the team. Zack Mozart holds 98 hits with 55 runs, 15 homers and 41 RBI. Brandon Phillips has hit 98 times as well with 44 runs and 37 RBI.
The Cardinals are 4-0 in their last four game ones of a series, and 6-2 in their last eight games following a loss. St. Louis is also 41-17 in Wainwright’s last 58 starts, and 8-2 in Wainwright’s last 10 Tuesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 5-0 in their last five game ones of a series, and 5-1 in their last six games following an off day. Cincinnati is also 4-1 in Straily’s last five starts, and 4-1 in Straily’s last five home starts.
I like the starting pitching matchup here, so I’ll take the under. St. Louis can get it done if the Reds offense can’t find their way, however.
