The Texas Rangers end their visit to Camden Yards and the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.
The Texas Rangers seemed to have found the groove which is bad news for the rest of the American League West. After winning four in a row the Rangers have lost back to back games following a 3-2 defeat at Camden Yards on Wednesday. Texas starter Cole Hamels gave up all three runs on four hits and four BB over seven frames to get the loss. Texas mustered seven hits and two walks with Carlos Beltran going solo while Jonathan Lucroy drove in Rougned Odor. AJ Griffin toes the rubber versus Baltimore for the second time in his career on Thursday. In 13 starts, Griffin has gone 4-1 with a 1.26 WHIP and 3.99 ERA over 67.2 innings.

The Baltimore Orioles are clinging to first in the American League East and simply can not afford to lose. The Orioles ran their winning streak to three games following Wednesday’s victory which kept the team atop the American League West. Pitching was the name of the game with O’s starter Kevin Gausman allowing both runs on seven hits through seven innings. The Birds were held to four hits and four walks with Matt Wieters knocking in two runs while Mark Trumbo recorded an RBI and scored. The Oriole end their series with the Rangers with newly acquired Wade Miley who opposes Texas for the 4th time in 2016. Miley comes off of a 4-1 win at Chicago with a run scoring in seven frames.
Texas are 4-11 in their last 15 road games and are are 9-4 in their last 13 Thursday games while going 8-3 in Griffin’s last 11 starts. The under is 9-0 in Baltimore’s last 9 home games and the under is 16-5 in their last 21 on grass while going 20-7 in their last 27 overall. Texas are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings and are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Baltimore. I’m not sure Miley is going to push Baltimore over the edge but the fan in me is backing him…
