The Detroit Tigers have been playing their best baseball of the season as they try to overtake Cleveland in the American League Central. The surging Tigers were cooled off for a day in a 6-3 loss to the visiting White Sox on Thursday which ended an eight game winning streak. Detroit Starter Jordan Zimmermann fell to 9-5 with all six runs given up on six hits including a pair of homers through 1.2 innings. The Tigers totaled nine hits and a base on balls with Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera going deep while Tyler Collins drove in JD Martinez. The Tigers send Justin Verlander to the hill to face the Mets for the first time since 2011. Verlander comes off a complete game 3-2 victory versus Houston where he struck out eleven.
The under is 9-2-1 in the Mets last 12 road games and the Mets are 2-6 in their last 8 overall while going 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass. Detroit are 8-0 in their last 8 overall and are 8-0 in their last 8 games on grass while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 interleague home games.
