The Chicago Cubs look to stay hot when they visit the Oakland Athletics in Friday action.
The Chicago Cubs seem to be in a groove once again as they have won seven of eight and look to lock up the National League Central. The Cubs defeated visiting Miami 5-4 Wednesday to cap off a three game sweep of the Marlins. Cubbies starter John Lackey gave up three runs over seven frames for a no decision. Chicago logged nine hits and walked five times with Dexter Fowler driving in a run and scoring while seven different players drove in runs and scored. Veteran left hander Jon Lester toes the rubber at Oakland for Friday’s series opener. Lester comes off of a 12-1 win versus Seattle with four hits and two free passes allowed over six scoreless innings.

Rookie Dillon Overton makes his 5th career start when the Cubs visit on Friday. Overton was a 6-3 loser at Cleveland last time out with five runs allowed on ten hits including three homers in 3.1 frames.
