As for the Nationals, they swept the Diamondbacks this week. Washington won by a total score of 32-8 in that three-game set.

Taking the mound for the Giants on Friday will be RHP Jeff Samardzija. In his 21 starts this year, Samardzija owns a 9-7 record with a 4.30 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. In a loss his last time out, Samardzija posted four earned on seven hits in six innings for a loss against these same Nationals.

Taking the swings at the plate, we’ve got a few noteworthy names for San Francisco. Brandon Belt leads the way with 104 hits, 12 homers, 51 runs and 53 RBI. Buster Posey has hit 103 times with 60 runs, 12 homers and 50 RBI. Denard Span sits on 103 hits with 62 runs, 13 homers and 52 RBI.

The Nationals will be rolling out left-hander Gio Gonzalez for the start on Friday. In his 21 starts and 6-9 record this year, Gonzalez owns a 4.29 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP in 121.2 innings. In a loss to the Giants his last time out, Gonzalez put up six innings with six hits and two earned runs.

Washington has some notable hitters on their roster as well. Daniel Murphy is way out front on 138 hits with 66 runs, 21 homers and 80 RBI. Wilson Ramos has hit 110 times with 49 runs, 16 homers and 59 RBI. Anthony Rendon holds 102 hits with 65 runs, 13 homers and 46 RBI so far.

The Giants are 0-6 in their last six game ones of a series, and 4-1 in Samardzija’s last five Friday starts. San Francisco is also 2-5 in Samardzija’s last seven road starts and 1-5 in Samardzija’s last six starts overall.

As for the Nationals, they’re 6-2 in their last eight overall, and 5-2 in their last seven against the National League West. Washington is also 5-2 in their last seven against a right-handed starter and 7-3 in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning record.

I’m not thrilled with Samardzija these days, so give me the Nationals to win here easily.
