The Minnesota Twins and the Tampa Bay Rays meet Saturday evening at Tropicana Field.
The Minnesota Twins have played much better baseball then we’ve seen the majority of 2016 and look to finish the year strong. The Twins continue to play well with a 6-2 win at Tampa Bay Friday with some late scoring doing the trick. Minnesota starter Ervin Santana allowed both runs over 6.1 frames to pick up the win. The Twins knocked out ten hits and walked three times with Miguel Sano going solo while Eddie Rosario went deep with two RBI’s and two runs. Joe Mauer drove in two and Jorge Polanco scored twice in a balanced attack. Rookie Jose Berrios gets the ball Saturday for his first career start versus Tampa Bay. Berrios comes off a 12-5 win at Cleveland with three runs allowed on five hits over six innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays are destined to finish last in the American League East even though they are playing well. The Rays had been playing well but cooled for a night Friday with the bats and bullpen struggling. TB starter Blake Snell gave up a run through 5.1 innings but Erasmo Ramirez and Ryan Garton combined to give up five runs. Tampa Bay mustered seven hits with Brad Miller smacking his 19th long ball while Nick Franklin drove in Logan Forsythe. Chris Archer will be shooting for his 4th straight quality start when he takes the hill versus Minnesota Saturday. Archer comes off of a 3-0 loss to Kansas City with all three runs scoring on six hits in 7.1 frames.
Minnesota are 11-28 in their last 39 games on astroturf and the over is 43-19-3 in their last 65 overall. Tampa Bay are 1-8 in their last 9 Saturday games and are 6-2 in their last 8 overall while going 6-2 in their last 8 games on astroturf. The over is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings and the Twins are 8-20 in the last 28 meetings. Berrios doesn’t have a real track record yet but I don’t know if I’d go against the Twins right now and would probably watch if given the choice…
