The Cleveland Indians look to leave the Big Apple with a win over the New York Yankees Sunday.
The Cleveland Indians have been fading and need to reverse the trend or they could be in trouble. The Indians had dropped five of six before picking up a 5-2 win at the Yankees on Saturday. Tribe starter Corey Kluber improved to 11-8 with both runs scoring on five hits over eight frames while whiffing eight. Cleveland totaled ten hits and six walks with Mike Napoli, Jason Kipnis and Rajai Davis each going deep and combining for five RBI’s and four runs. The Indians send Carlos Carrasco out to face the Yankees for the second time this year. Carrasco comes off a 10-6 loss to Minnesota with eight runs allowed on ten hits over just 3.2 innings.

The New York Yankees are finally ready to look to next season while trying to stay above .500 as well. The Yankees never got their bats going Saturday afternoon and took a rare loss from Cleveland. Yanks starter CC Sabathia was charged with three runs on six hits and four BB to get the loss with two relievers giving up a run each. The Bronx Bombers were held to six hits and a base on balls with Gary Sanchez driving in a run and scoring while Brett Gardner and Aaron hicks recorded two hits apiece. The Yankees turn to Masahiro Tanaka for Sunday’s series finale’ against visiting Cleveland. Tanaka comes off a 7-1 defeat at the Mets with seven runs scoring on eight hits in 6.1 frames.
Cleveland are 20-7 in Carrasco’s last 27 road starts and are 11-5 in Carrasco’s last 16 starts. The under is 12-3-1 in the Yankees last 16 home games and the Yankees are 8-3 in their last 11 home games while going 11-5 in their last 16 games on grass. The Indians are 15-37 in the last 52 meetings in New York. Cleveland doesn’t usually fare well in New York so I might just watch this…
