The Los Angeles Angels visit Wrigley Field to battle the Chicago Cubs in interleague action Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Angels appeared to have an opportunity to reach .500 on the season but the team might be up against the wall in that goal after dropping four in a row. The Angels lost to the rival Mariners on the road by a 3-1 count as the offense never got going. LAA starter Matt Shoemaker fell to 6-12 with all three runs allowed on seven hits over seven frames. Los Angeles was held to five hits and a pair of free passes with Mike Trout driving in Shane Robinson. The Angels send Jered Weaver to the bump to face the Cubs for the first time since 2013. Weaver comes off of an 8-6 win versus Oakland with four runs plated (three earned) on nine hits in six innings.

The Cubs are back to looking like they did early in the season and that has them moving towards the National League Central crown. The Cubs have won seven in a row after downing the Athletics 3-1 on the road Sunday behind another strong effort on the mound. Cubbies starter Kyle Hendricks improved to 11-7 with a solo homer served up through 7.1 innings. Chicago totaled ten hits and walked fur times with Kris Bryant and Jorge Solar going deep while Anthony Rizzo drove in Dexter Fowler. Veteran John Lackey gets the ball Tuesday against his former team the Angels. Lackey has decent numbers but is just 8-7 in 22 outings 1ith a 1.09 WHIP and 3.70 ERA.
The over is 15-5-1 in the Angels last 21 interleague games and the Angels are 14-3 in Weaver’s last 17 Tuesday starts while the over is 7-2 in Weaver’s last 9 Tuesday starts. The Cubs are 10-1 in their last 11 overall and are 10-1 in their last 11 games on grass while going under is 26-8-1 in their last 35 home games. The over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings. I’ll back the hotter team but I won’t pay a lot of juice on Lackey…
