The Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants continue their pivotal series in South Florida on Tuesday after an extra innings affair on Monday.
The San Francisco Giants look to add another check in the win column as they face off against a pesky Marlins side that has been hitting the cover off the ball of late in what is a very critical series show down between two playoff hopefuls in the National League. The Giants made some moves at the trade deadline in hopes of bettering their club and one of those moves was acquiring Matt Moore from the Tampa Bay Rays and after a strong outing in his first start he will look to replicate that effort on the bump tonight. The Giants are still ahead of the LA Dodgers and will be fighting tooth and nail until the final out is called in game 162 but tonight they have to worry about Tom Koehler and a Miami team that is also desperate for wins in their pursuit of baseball’s second season.

The Marlins meanwhile currently hold down the final wild card spot in the National League and do pose a serious threat to go on a playoff run with the way they have been playing of late, led by five tool outfielder Christian Yelich. The Fish also have one of the best pitchers in baseball in Jose Fernandez and if they find themselves in a winner take all show down in the wild card game they can feel pretty confident about getting the win, even if it means playing on the road. As for tonight though, they send Koehler to the mound who is 8-8 with a 4.05 ERA and part of the reason why they went out and acquired Andrew Cashner to shore up their rotation and he will match up with Matt Moore who has almost identical numbers with a 7-7 record and 4.04 ERA.
The Giants are 6-15 in their last 21 overall and 3-11 in their last 14 road games while the Marlins are 6-0 in their last six starts against the NL West and 8-3 in Koehler’s last 11 Tuesday starts. The OVER meanwhile is 8-1 in their last nine meetings in Miami and 20-8 in the last 28 meetings and with Koehler and Moore on the bump and both teams hitting well I see this one hitting the over with ease.
