On Tuesday evening from Citi Field in Flushing, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets will be kicking off their MLB series.
The Diamondbacks played three games against the Brewers this weekend, taking games one and three, but dropping game two Saturday.

As for the Mets, they played the Tigers over the weekend, dropping the first two games, but winning Sunday to prevent the sweep.
Taking the hill for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday will be right-hander Zack Greinke. In his 17 games and 10-3 record this year, Greinke has put up a 3.62 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP in 109.1 innings. Greinke is coming off an oblique injury and has been doing some rehab work at the Triple-A level to get ready for this one.
At the plate, the D-Backs have a few hitters of note. Jean Segura sits on 135 hits, 66 runs and 44 RBI. Paul Goldschmidt has hit 117 times with 65 runs, 17 homers and 70 RBI. Jake Lamb owns 103 hits with 57 runs, 24 homers and 72 RBI.
Over on the Mets’ side, we’ll be seeing the young lefty Steven Matz take the hill Tuesday. In 20 starts and an 8-8 record this year, Matz holds a 3.63 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP in 119 innings. Matz took a loss in his last start against the Yankees, going six innings with six runs on six hits.
The New York hitters are a pretty capable bunch. Neil Walker leads the pack on 99 hits with 46 runs, 19 homers and 49 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes has logged 96 hits with 49 runs, 22 homers and 59 RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera has hit 95 times with 42 runs, 13 homers and 33 RBI.
The Diamondbacks are 3-12 in their last 15 road games, and 5-16 in their last 21 game ones of a series. Arizona is also 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games, and 7-0 in Greinke’s last seven road starts.
As for the Mets, they’re 22-8 in their last 30 games following an off day, and 3-9 in their last 12 home games. New York is also 1-4 in their last five against a team with a losing record, and 1-5 in their last six against the National League West.
With Greinke on the mound, I don’t see the Mets offense getting past Arizona here. I’ll take the D-Backs.
