The Chicago Cubs look to stay red hot as they continue their series at Wrigley Field against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night.
The Angels were smashed by a 5-1 final on Tuesday and managed only three hits and things don’t get any easier as they take on Jason Hammel who has had a nice season and will out to send the Cubs to another victory as the Wrigley faithful look to fly the W. Los Angeles has had a very tough season and despite having the game’s best player and face of baseball in Mike Trout they are a far ways away from getting back into the playoff mix in the American League and an offseason overhaul could be in the mix for a team that was once a perennial playoff contender. The Angels will send Ricky Nolasco to the mound who was dealt for Hector Santiago at the trade deadline and he will look for his first win with his new team but he is tough against a heavy hitting Cubs side that is among the best in baseball.

The Cubs have been one of the best teams in baseball all season long and are certainly a favourite to win the World Series as they have a rock solid lineup, a fantastic rotation, and now a bullpen anchored by some lofty vets and the best closer in the game. Chicago will look for their 70th win of the season here and they are pretty heavy favourites to get it done as Hammel holds the pitching edge over Nolasco and with this being at Wrigley it is going to be very tough for the Halos to compete as they don’t have the horses to keep pace and this could end up being a very long outing for them.
The Angels are 4-1 in their last five interleague games, 3-8 in their last 11 against the NL Central, and 1-5 in their last six against a righty while the Cubs are 10-1 in their last 11 overall, 8-2 in their last 10 interleague home games, and 4-0 in their last four against the AL West. The Cubs keep it rolling here and it isn’t even close.
