The suddenly surging Atlanta Braves look to keep their spoiler role intact as they continue their series on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Braves have had a very disappointing season and will not be competing for a World Series this year but they have started to play some very good baseball and getting it done in a number of different ways. Atlanta will send Joel De La Cruz to the mound in this one as he will face off against Chase Anderson as both pitchers look to shake off a tough stretch with the former sporting an 0-4 record and a 3.41 ERA while the latter is even worse off at 6-10 with a 5.01 mark but those numbers could come down significantly as neither team can hit the ball very well. The Braves have turned it up of late going 7-3 in their last 10 games while the Brew Crew are 5-5 in that same span and will look to continue a decent post all-star break push.

The Brewers head into tonight’s game coming off a tough 2-1 loss against the light hitting Braves on the same day they sent rookie sensation Junior Guerra to the disable list and now they look to get back in the win column with Anderson on the mound. Milwaukee was expected to make some moves at the trade deadline and they didn’t disappoint as they shipped out Jonathan Lucroy and Jeremy Jeffress but they did retain Ryan Braun who was in trade rumors but his troubled past with PED’s and very rich contract perhaps scared some teams off despite having another strong year statistically.
Atlanta is 5-1 in their last six games, 30-62 in their last 92 road games, and 5-0 in their last five road games against a righty while the Brewers are 1-4 in their last five overall, 4-1 in their last five home games, and 6-13 in their last 19 starts from Anderson. The Braves are playing well right now and I think they get another look here as De La Cruz has had some bad luck but has been pitching decently well despite his 0-4 mark.
