The Boston Red Sox shoot for a series ending win against the New York Yankees.
The New York Yankees are going to have some changes next season and they are hoping for better things. The Yankees were all smiles Wednesday after downing rival Boston 9-4. With NYY starter Nathan Eovaldi getting hurt it was pitching by committee with seven hurlers seeing action. The Bronx Bombers pounded out 16 hits and walked four times with Didi Gregorius and Gary Sanchez going solo with Starlin Castro driving in two while every starter reached base. The Yankees hand the ball to Michael Pineda who opposes the Red Sox for the 4th time in 2016. Pineda has struggled the last two times out with ten runs allowed on 12 hits and five BB over 12 innings.

Despite being third in the American League East the Red Sox are right in the mix for the division lead. The Red Sox pen shouldered Wednesday’s defeat after starter Drew Pomeranz allowed one run through 5.1 innings before four relievers were charged with eight runs to cough up a 4-1 lead.Boston totaled nine hits and six walks with Andrew Benintendi driving in a run and scoring while Sandy Leon scored twice. Steven Wright draws Thursday’s start versus the Yankees looking for back to back wins. Wright comes off a 9-0 win at the Dodgers where he tossed a complete game shutout.
The under is 7-1-3 in Yankees last 11 Thursday games and is 16-5 in their last 21 on grass while the Yankees are 9-3 in Pineda’s last 12 starts on grass. The under is 10-3 in Boston’s last 13 overall and is 10-3 in their last 13 on grass while the over is 8-2 in Wright’s last 10 home starts. The Red Sox pitching stinks and it will cost them sooner or later…
